Great video. Very comprehensive. Odd that the same defect is also on pretty much every video I have seen so far. Yours is the best. Prior to pulling the ignition cylinder out, I put two witness marks on it. My theory is to make the reinstallation process, less arduous. Currently waiting for parts.
You don't have to remove the bumper or header panel or any of that, just the radiator which isn't all that easy but not bad once you know how.
Just updated an idiot lite Jeep to full gauges, and kept the original miles. the hardest part was downloading software for the programmer. thanks for the inspiration.
Ran into this problem. Jumped relay for about a week to get me going to work and such, after a week it wouldn’t crank anymore and starter just spun itself would not engage flywheel. Tested starter and battery they both good hoping just the ignition switch is the issue
After 5yrs, is there one of these that is maybe half the size? I'm looking to offset a parasitic draw from a hands free link module in an Acura. In the summer it is not an issue, but once the temps drop in winter I can't leave the car parked for more than a day or two without battery issues. Also wondering how well it would work in the winter time. Appreciate the video, thanks.
Is the jeep in this video lifted at all?
No episode 2?
Is this issue with the crank and camshaft sensors affecting also the 2.8 CRD from the Liberty, 177 bhp RA428 DOHC? I come from an Hyundai Santa Fe with the RA420 SOHC and I had the crank and camshaft sensors issues and I they had to be replaced at the same time, but OEM only as aftermarket ones didn't work. Do you know that they also need to be OEM aswell on this engine, or aftermarket works too? Thanks alot!
Would this work for a 2011?
Its probably just left over oil that was in the charge air cooler
Hey there thank you for your knowledge I have. 2008 crd with p0088 bank 1/ truck drives great first 5 min the. Goes into limp mode I’ve always wanted one and I’m trying to figure out this issue
The best thing you can do for the crd. Did ours years ago
Great demo
I have lined up the cams, crank and fuel pump fitted the cam belt checked marks, all good rotated the crank twice, crank and camshafts line up but the fuel pump is out by a quarter of a turn each time, reset fuel pump and it's out again any ideas,I haven't tried to Start it yet
Does this work for a 98 jeep grand cherokee zj
I don't want to see your crack
I have a 2005 Jeep liberty Rocky Mountain edition and I had a weak battery that I would has to use a everstart maxx to give the battery enough juice to start the motor so I was thinking of and every once in a while I would has to hook key the start position for a few seconds then the motor would decide to turn over and fire right up and I go to Walmart one day and when I get in Jeep and try to crank it nothing and at this time I has new battery so I know that isn’t the issue I checked fuses all were good I moved relays around and nothing so when I turn the key u don’t hear the starter solenoid and my ole lady went to surprise me 🎉 with getting a new starter for it but I told her I hope she kept the receipt because I honestly don’t think that’s the issue I put a new set of Michelin tires on the jeep and when u would do sharp corners the tires would rub on the the inter-fenders that I ended up trimming a lil off so no more tire rub so I am fixing to check and see if I has broken wire somewhere underneath and see if that is the issue
Our oil gets hot and thin.. then we get the buzzer of doom. I think I’ve got a worn oil pump that cannot get that oil around when it loses viscosity with temperature.
Thank you for the information.
W the oil pressure and temp gauge not working , do you think the check gauge light would still come on if there was an issue?
Es war einmal.......der Mensch
Top tier info! 👍👊
I replaced the TPS sensor with a part from advance…my jeep is acting up. I ordered a TPS Sensor (Dorman brand) from Rock Auto. Let’s see how it does once it arrives.
one of the best video wıew ı ever seen , thanks.
I’m not second guessing just a question should you tap it in place with a rubber mallet before torquing down? I don’t know anything about diesel engines, I have two Jeep Liberty’s with 2.8L CRD’s one has started acting like it has a dead or lowered compression cylinder with excess smoke out the exhaust (black, like I burned fuel), poor performance, a pound knocking almost like a rod, gets louder under power. I deduced the cylinders are all functional with a test of the fuel injectors (unplugged each individually and each time the engine went into a very rough idle as expected, so each cylinder is functional. I’m wondering if my timing chain jumped a tooth or two to create a performance reduction, just don’t know how to identify that without tearing the engine apart, no experience with diesel’s so I’m fearful of doing too much that becomes cost prohibitive to repair 😮
Where do you get the leaf springs ?
Nice job on the video, you went straight to the point with no fluff or unnecessary jibber jabber like I'm doing now! excellent job, hope you get a lot of hits and rise to stardom!
Una domanda, tutti questi sensori e consigliato pulirli?
thanks for posting this.
The only person in any thread, forum or video I have searched who identified the need for and the size of the security Torx to remove the ignition switch. Thank you
Just what i needed to see. Thanks
Thank you for your detalied instruction, much helpful for me. I have 2014 CRD JKU, EGR looks different of mine.
This is great. How much did the plow setup run you?
You're walking the grade of the Silverton Railroad. What you see are some of the remaining ties.
How many inches to your crack?
A diesel engine cannot be destroyed by being "under fueled". Just sayin'.
Did you get new studs?
Hey i know it's been a long time since this video but i just wondered if you could do the same part replaced on a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse LS. I can't find a video for that specific part. I don't know how to take that metal cover off. Appreciate it in advance ❤😊
Thanks. I just did this repair to my 2006 Liberty. But, I made the mistake of removing the three black screws on the ignition switch which removes the white plastic plate. All kinds of things fell out. A spring, and little silver ball bearing. I ended up buying another one from Dorman along with the actuator pin part. Spent around $50 total which was a lot cheaper than towing to a garage.
Thank you very much! This video saved me so much time!!
Curious, Under load how fast does it spool? Will it do 25 psi by 1800 RPM?
Identical problem with my 2003 Jeep Liberty. Your video & a couple others really simplified the repair---very appreciative!
Great video.
Awesome info, I don’t need any of it, just trolling through! Great info 👍! There’s a lot of information you give that is very useful! Oh and by the way I could hear you very clearly, Im not sure why other comments say you can’t be heard! I had no problem listening! I don’t need the information but I’m curious, and you did very well explaining how it works!! Good job!!
How...?
Having the same issue on my 2.8 crd. Jumped the relay and it will turn over but won't fire. Oddly it also turns over without the key in the ignition when I jump that relay?
It likely won't fire because the onboard computer (PCM) has detected a fault & turned off the ASD relay (which provides power to fuel pump and coil). The ASD relay is located in the same relay box & can be defeated by removing it & shorting the output pins just as u did with the starter relay (u must remove the short after stopping the motor). It's likely your primary problem is a broken Ignition Switch Actuator Pin, which is a weakness in Jeep design. There are several good UA-cam hits on how to replace it.
Disappointed you talk in circles I was expecting more on this engine...sorry
They fit a few canal boats here in the UK. I used to work in factories doing loads of the old ones in the 90`s. They also fitted old Ford Escorts and Sierra`s. I don`t like the 100 amp alternator. The rotor catches the stator quite a lot, but that might be due to us removing them to clean up and they never go back in the right place.
Thank you ! 🙏
Will this work on 95 grand cherokee?
